We all know that American Idol is supposed to be the chance for unknown talent to get teh chance to be the next big thing in pop music. But it seems that more and more artists are using American Idol as a second, third or fourth shot at stardom.

Take for instance, Joanna Pacitti, one of this year’s contestants. Pacitti’s resume includes a record deal in 2006 (she was dropped form the label), opening of non other than Cheryl Crow, being featured in an MTV documentary and having her songs appear in movies and on TV. That should give her a bit of an edge over other contestants, dontcha think? Especially considering most of the others have such things as waitress and Target worker on their CVs.

But her past in the industry isn’t the only advantage Joanna Pacitti has up her sleeve. One of her BFFs is a producer for Idol. Pacitti has described one of the show’s producers, Michelle Young as her “manager” and “best friend.” And she credits Roger Widynowski as “helping me get where I am today.” Oh yeah, and the three of them lived together at one time. Kinda cozy, eh?
